Sowing—placing seeds in soil, should be done carefully. Many scientists have reported the effects of different sowing depths1, sowing methods, and seeding rates2 on yield. An increase in yield results from the use of a seeder. It allows farmers to plant rows of seeds uniformly, thus improving plant growth and adaptation, which contribute to the final yield.

Jayawardena Engineering3 has developed a new kind of seeder known as "Agri Master seeder cum fertilizer drill". Made in Sri Lanka, the "Agri Master seeder cum fertilizer drill" is an efficient farm machine specially used for sowing seeds. It is versatile and can be customized. It can do many different things in a single operation.

Maize
Soybean

The added versatility helps farmers to cost-effectively produce more crops, thus increasing the amount of food produced. It makes small furrows in the soil, applies fertilizers, places the seeds at the right depth, and properly closes the furrows. It can be adjusted for various crops. Additionally, farmers can adjust the depth at which the seeds are planted in the soil. After the seeds are deposited into the seed furrow that is created by the machine, the press-wheels cover the seeds. Once the machine completes its job, the seeds have a firm contact with the soil. It takes about an hour to sow one acre of land.

  • Create furrows
  • Apply fertilizers
  • Plant seeds
  • Close the furrows
  • control row spacing
  • control plant spacing
  • control depth
  • Fuel-efficient

"Agri Master seeder cum fertilizer drill" is designed to keep a large quantity of seeds plus fertilizer, to dispense them during the sowing process. A hopper—a container that holds the seeds, has the capacity of 20kgs. The fertilizer container can store 75 kgs of fertilizer. Depending on the capacity required for a specific farming operation, a farmer can use a small machine or a bigger one with four hoppers.

It is a tractor-drawn seed cum fertilizer drill. Jayawardena Engineering3 has specially developed this implement to be more efficient and easier to operate than traditional mechanical seeders. It does a fuel-efficient job, as this machine requires no extra power other than pulling power (12 HP-25 HP) from the tractor. It is best suited for crops like maize, soybean, green gram, cowpea, sorghum, and sunflower.

When there is plenty of ground to cover, let it do all the hard work for you.
